Massive Modular Synth!

Geek post alert!
MIT build a huge modular synthesizer you control through the internet MIT is offering users the chance to play Dr. Joe Paradiso’s homemade synthesizer through the internet.

We can’t all fit a room-sized synthesizer in our flats, nor spend over a decade putting one together ourselves. Luckily, MIT has the storage space and Assistant Professor Joe Paradiso has the diligence to spend the better part of 1974 to 1987 putting together his own home-made synthesiser, dubbed PatchWerk. Named in tribute to the German synthpop pioneers Kraftwerk, Paradiso and the renowned research institute are giving the rest of the world the opportunity to enjoy all their hard work through interactive technology.

In a happy alliance of analogue and digital , they’ve set up an online interface on the MIT website that allows anyone to plug in and control a few knobs and switches of the monstrous creation remotely.
You will need Google chrome or Firefox to use this

6th Borough Project

6th Borough have certainly been a favorite of mine over the last few years so I am happy to see they have a new mix CD released on Kolour Ltd.
Containing tracks from Fantastic man, Alex Gore, Norm De Plume, Deadly sins and 6th Borough themselves this is a tasty incite into the labels releases.
Watch out for the LTD single too…….

Its out now so give it a purchase

Snoop Dogg’s Tekno Euro MIx?

WHAT?
So I was browsing Deep House Page and found a post about Snoop Dogg doing a “Tekno” Mix. My 1st thought was oh no this is not going to end well. A pleasant suprise when I decided to listen, Although the description says Tekno Euro Mix it could not be further from it!
A nice selection of mellow house with an obvious boogie influence.
Although not pumping with energy or technical genius its actually a resonable listen. IS he a great DJ when it comes to this style? Maybe not but this could have been a whole lot worse.

New hope for tinnitus sufferers

A personalised tinnitus treatment that involves listening to sounds through headphones may offer new hope for thousands of sufferers, a study has found.

The unusual therapy is designed to “reset” auditory nerve cells in the brain to stop them misfiring.

Known as Acoustic Co-ordinated Reset (CR) Neuromodulation, it reduced tinnitus symptoms in three quarters of trial patients.

Perception/Today Records

Perception Productions, a New York based label that ran from the late 60s through until 1974, was a strangely eclectic affair. Its roster stretched from a radical Afro-American poet through to the pop band King Harvest whose hit ‘Dancing In The Moonlight’ became a massive hit for the UK band Toploader a couple of decades later. The inbetween points covered jazz, funk, vocal harmony soul and proto-disco. In fact distilled down into this compilation the label provides us a view of Manhattan’s black music scene of the period, from the established greats to the fresh young things who would make their mark in the coming years. The two men who ran the label, President Terry Phillips and Boo Frazier burned brightly for that half a decade before almost entirely disappearing from the music scene.
