White Shadow

The White Shadow Of Norway started as a DJ in 1978 at the age of nine. The first ten years of his DJ adventures was spent spinning at local kids disco’s then nightclubs in his hometown Geilo, Norway.

In 1988 and ’89, Shadow won the Norwegian DMC Mixing Championships, and competed in the world finals in London as DJ Fresh, and placed 10th. in ’89. At the DMC’s he met his soon to be manager from New York where he moved, and lived during the early to mid 90’s, playing all the best clubs there such as Sound Factory, Danceteria, Limelight, S.O.B.’s, Nells, Giant Step, Wetlands, The Ritz, etc opening up for DJ legends like Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Funkmaster Flex, Biz Markie, and others, as well as artists like Roy Ayers, Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers, KRS One, Gangstarr, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, and others.

Shadow was a member of KRS One’s BDP Posse during his time in New York which lead to him doin’ cuts on BDP member Jamalski’s Roughneck Reality album on Sony / Ruffhouse Records on the track Hangin’ Tree which Shadow also helped mix, and the instrumental version of it was used in the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Last Action Hero in 1993.

Deciding he wanted to get more into production Shadow left New York, and spent a few years in the lab learning the art of producing Hiphop and House while traveling and doing DJ gigs in the mid to late 90’s. The first record Shadow produced was a House record under the alias 109th. Street Connection called Poon Thang EP which was inspired by his stay in New York and the Todd Terry, and Masters At Work sound that ruled NYC at the time. It was released on Thang Records in Norway which was Scandinavia’s first Deep House label run by Shadow himself, and DJ Tripman aka Addvibe, and their records were distributed by Nice N Ripe in the UK, and Peppermint Jam in Germany.

After about ten releases the Thang label folded, and Shadow decided to focus more on Hiphop, and has done real well producing and scratching on tracks with artists like KRS One, Kool G Rap, Joell Ortiz, Ras Kass, Chino XL, Jedi Mind Tricks, and hundreds more, and have also released five solo albums on his label Uncut Productions in the genre of hardcore underground Hiphop, featuring the above artists and others, with Shadow on production and cuts.

In 2011, Shadow decided he wanted to start a club division of his label, and named it Uncut House Records, specializing in all kinds of House, and club related music with the main focus on the Deep and Funky sides of House music.

More than ten releases deep so far, and most of them produced by Shadow himself, the label is starting to make some noise in various clubs worldwide, and on the online stores like Beatport.
